VIAC chairman Vu Tien Loc dies aged 64

HCMC – Vu Tien Loc, chairman of the Vietnam International Arbitration Center (VIAC) and former chairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), died of a stroke today at the age of 64.

Loc, born in 1960 in Thai Binh Province, was a prominent figure in Vietnam’s economic and business community.

He was a National Assembly deputy from the 9th to 15th terms. He served on the Economic and Budgetary Committee in the 11th National Assembly and the Economic Committee in later terms.

Before joining VCCI, Loc worked at the Central Institute for Economic Management. He led VCCI from 2003 to 2021.

During his career, Loc helped promote institutional reform and improve Vietnam’s business environment. His contributions to the business community included the publication of the Provincial Competitiveness Index (PCI) and the Corporate Sustainability Index (CSI). These initiatives aimed to foster economic reforms and enhance governance at the local level.
