HCMC – Vietjet has been awarded a VND1.54-trillion contract to develop and operate two aircraft maintenance facilities at the under-construction Long Thanh International Airport in Dong Nai Province, according to a recent decision by the Ministry of Construction.

The ministry approved the outcome under a special bidding mechanism for investment projects No. 3 and No. 4, which are part of the airport’s Phase 1 development. Vietjet emerged as the selected investor for both projects.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has been instructed to finalize the contract with Vietjet and ensure the project is implemented in accordance with the requirements. The projects are expected to be completed mainly in 2025 and fully operational by 2026.

The maintenance facilities are designed to support domestic airlines and enhance the operational readiness of Long Thanh airport. Each facility will be capable of simultaneously servicing at least two Code E aircraft, such as Boeing 747s, 787s, or Airbus A350s, and four Code C aircraft, including A320s or A321s.

The project scope includes the construction of operational buildings, the installation of specialized equipment, and the development of supporting technical infrastructure.

The development is part of a broader plan to establish a comprehensive aircraft maintenance hub at Long Thanh, aimed at supporting national aviation interests and meeting the technical demands of Vietnam’s largest airport project.
