HCMC – Vietnam Airlines (VNA) yesterday, June 15, launched a direct service between Vietnam and India with its maiden flight taking off from Hanoi and arriving at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in India’s New Delhi at 14:25 (local time).

The new air service is expected to significantly contribute to tightening trade, tourism, cultural and social cooperation between the two countries.

The carrier’s flights on the Hanoi-New Delhi route are scheduled for Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays while those on the HCMC-New Delhi route are on Thursdays and Saturdays.

The airline will operate these flights using new-generation, wide-body Boeing 787s and Airbus A350s.

India is among Vietnam’s top trade partners, while Vietnam is also the 15th largest trader partner of India.

Since the two countries established their diplomatic relations in 1972, a strategic partnership in 2007, and a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2016, their two-way trade has risen an annual average of 20%.
