HCMC – Sunkovir is Vietnam’s first traditional medicine for treatment of the coronavirus disease to be licensed for circulation nationwide by the Ministry of Health from April 12 this year.

At a seminar, “Effectiveness of traditional medicine products in preventing and treating the Covid-19 and seasonal influenza,” a representative of the HCMC Traditional Medicine Institute said, adding that after taking Sunkovir for three days, 100% of patients would experience a quick reduction in their symptoms.

Till now, Sunkovir is the first and only traditional medicine which has been approved by the Ministry of Health for circulation in Vietnam.

According to Dr Truong Thi Ngoc Lan, deputy director of the HCMC Traditional Medicine Institute, Sunkovir is contraindicated in treating respiratory tract viral infections, including flu and mild COVID-19, in the early stage of the disease to quickly reduce symptoms.

The traditional medicine could be combined with modern medical treatment regimes such as antipyretics, anti-inflammatories, pain relievers, cough suppressants, and antibiotics if necessary, added Lan.

Besides, the medicine could significantly reduce the severity of symptoms from the third day, such as coughs, shortness of breath, loss of smell and taste, nosebleeds, body aches, sore throat, runny nose, headache, fatigue, chest pain, sneezing, chills, sweating and insomnia.

A Covid-19 patient will see all symptoms disappear within seven days of using Sunkovir.

Sunkovir also reduces the requirements for corticosteroids, anticoagulants, antipyretics, cough suppressants, expectorants, antihistamines, antivirals and gastrointestinal drugs compared with the control group.
