HCMC – Vietnamese businesses are making inroads into the Chinese market, particularly in the southwestern region, as seen by their strong presence at the recent China-South Asia Expo, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
The expo in Kunming, Yunnan Province provided a platform for Vietnamese companies to showcase a wide range of products, including seafood, coffee, cashew nuts, footwear, and apparel.
With a population of around 350 million, southwestern China is an attractive market with growing demand for imported agricultural products.
“This is the first time Quang Ninh Province has a delegation to participate in this expo in Kunming,” said Pham Thi Thu Hien, a local business executive. She noted that her decision to join the trade expo came after market research revealed strong interest in seafood products in the Yunnan market.
While Vietnam’s exports to Yunnan have traditionally focused on wood products and handicrafts, there has been a noticeable increase in demand post pandemic for agricultural products, processed foods, and other items such as seafood, coffee and cashew nuts.
To support trade between Vietnam and China, the Vietnamese Government has been actively promoting cooperation with Yunnan Province. The expo has become an annual event that allows Vietnamese businesses to connect with Chinese importers and distributors, fostering trade opportunities and partnerships.
