HCMC – Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang announced that Vietnamese authorities are negotiating with their overseas counterparts over a plan to resume international air services on a certain number of routes by the middle of July.

The Foreign Affairs Ministry informed foreign representative agencies in Vietnam of the plan to reopen air routes connecting Vietnam with Seoul in South Korea, Tokyo in Japan, Taiwan, Guangzhou (China), Vientiane (Laos), and Phnom Penh (Cambodia) starting mid-July, with measures to prevent Covid-19 infection remaining in place, aimed at restoring socioeconomic growth.

“The Transport Ministry is working with these foreign agencies to reach a consensus on flight technical issues, flight frequencies and schedules. We hope the plan will be executed as soon as possible,” Hang stated at the ministry’s press conference on July 16.

Further information regarding the flight resumption plan will be updated later, the official affirmed.

She added that Vietnam will prioritize the entry of Vietnamese citizens stranded abroad, foreigners who are experts, investors or skilled employees arriving in Vietnam for official purposes and other extraordinary cases.

People entering Vietnam have to comply with the country’s healthcare checks and quarantine requirements.
