HCMC – Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has proposed enhancing economic, trade, and investment cooperation between Vietnam and India, with the ambitious goal of reaching US$20 billion in two-way trade.
This proposal came during a meeting with India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, on July 31 in New Delhi, as part of PM Chinh’s state visit to India, reported the Nhan Dan news site.
At the meeting, Minister S. Jaishankar extended his condolences to the State, Government, and people of Vietnam on the passing of Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.
He emphasized that the Indian Government highly values PM Chinh’s visit, seeing it as a significant boost to Vietnam-India relations.
PM Chinh expressed optimism that the visit would usher in a new phase of deeper trust, mutual understanding, and cooperation between the two nations.
He highlighted the importance of expanding cooperation in emerging fields such as green transition, digital transformation, innovation, semiconductor, and artificial intelligence, alongside boosting bilateral trade.
The leaders also agreed to continue working together in regional and international forums and to support ASEAN’s stance on the East Sea.
