HCMC – Vietnam’s Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh will pay a state visit to India from July 30 to August 1 at the invitation of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, announced the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
This is his first visit to India in his capacity as head of the Vietnamese Government.
The visit takes place after India successfully held its 18th Lok Sabha election, with the victory going to the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and Prime Minister Narendra Modi being re-elected for a third consecutive term.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Vietnam-India ties have expanded robustly since they were upgraded to a comprehensive strategic partnership in 2016.
In the year to May, two-way trade between Vietnam and India had reached nearly US$5.94 billion. Vietnam generated around US$3.56 billion by exporting goods to India and spent nearly US$2.38 billion on imports from India.
Currently, India has 380 active investment projects in Vietnam.
Multiple major Indian corporations, such as the Adani Group, are exploring investment opportunities in Vietnam, especially in infrastructure and renewable energy.
