Vietnam records eight more recoveries from Covid-19

HCMC – Eight more patients will be declared free of Covid-19 today, May 14, said the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases.

To date, 260 out of 288 Covid-19 cases in Vietnam have recovered, equivalent to 90%, and no fatalities have been reported, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

A 50-year-old man, tagged as the 50th, has made a full recovery for the second time. He was sent to the hospital on March 13 and was discharged on April 14. However, on April 21, he tested positive for the virus again. During his second treatment, he tested negative for Covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, on May 8 and 10.

Two of the recoveries are the 134th case, a 10-year-old boy, and the 244th case, a 44-year-old female resident of Quang Binh Province. They returned to Vietnam through Noi Bai International Airport on March 18 and 25, respectively.

Two other cases linked to Hanoi-based Bach Mai Hospital, one of the coronavirus clusters in the country, are the 185th case, a 38-year-old man caring for his brother-in-law who had received treatment at the Neurology Department of the hospital, and the 196th case, a 34-year-old female employee of Truong Sinh Company. The firm provided catering services for the hospital.

The remaining three patients are the 141st case, a 29-year-old doctor at the Central Hospital for Tropical Diseases’ Emergency Department in Dong Anh District; the 193rd case, a 21-year-old female resident of Nam Dinh Province; and the 263rd case, a 43-year-old woman.

These cases no longer present Covid-19 symptoms of fever, cough or shortness of breath and will continue to be monitored under quarantine over the next 14 days.

As of 7 a.m. today, May 14, Vietnam reported no new infections in the community for 28 consecutive days, according to the national steering committee for Covid-19 infection prevention and control.
