Vietnam reports 29 new Covid-19 cases

HCMC – The Health Ministry has confirmed 29 new Covid-19 cases that are all linked to the Covid-19 epicenter Danang this evening, August 9, taking the country’s tally to 841 cases to date.

They included 19 cases in Danang, eight in neighboring Quang Nam Province, and two in Quang Tri.

Of the 19 Covid-19 patients in Danang, aged 7-85, eight had close contact with confirmed Covid-19 cases, three had been receiving treatment at Danang Hospital, three were patient caregivers, and two were related to areas surrounding the hospital. The others included one health worker, one service staff and one case in Cam Le District.

The two cases in Quang Tri Province came into close contact with the country’s 750th Covid-19 patient.

The remaining eight in Quang Nam, aged 11-70, included three having direct contact with Covid-19 patients, two caregivers, two hospital patients, and one returnee from Danang.

The fresh infections have brought the number of locally-transmitted cases linked to the Danang coronavirus hotspot to 384 since July 25.

As of today, 395 of 841 Covid-19 patients in the country have fully recovered while 11 others have passed away.
