HCMC – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc has issued an urgent correspondence ordering ministries, departments and localities to continue observing Covid-19 infection prevention and control measures to ensure the country’s economy recovers quickly and the residents remain healthy.

Many countries are still reeling from the complicated developments of Covid-19, the disease caused by the coronavirus, while others have seen the reemergence of the disease after they eased social distancing measures, according to the correspondence.

Vietnam has basically managed to contain the disease, going several days without the community transmission of Covid-19, thanks to preventive measures, contributing to the recovery of the economy, said the prime minister.

However, the risk of the spread of the virus continues to remain high due to illegal entry, non-compliance with regulations on quarantine and Covid-19 infection prevention by travelers and undiscovered cases.

As such, the ministries, departments and provincial and municipal governments should continue to stay on high alert for Covid-19 and should not be careless, said the prime minister, adding that Covid-19 infection prevention and control measures must continue to be strictly followed.

Residents should continue to wear face masks while going out, at public places or when using public transport; avoid mass gatherings and maintain a safe physical distance, according to the Government news website.

The ministries and departments should focus on adopting preventive measures in big provinces and cities with a high population density and at schools, industrial zones, wet markets, supermarkets and quarantine facilities.

People showing suspected symptoms must immediately have their health checked and their samples taken for Covid-19 testing.

All State agencies and localities must have a detailed plan for disease prevention and control while regularly checking and assessing the safety of Covid-19 infection prevention based on the standards set by the Health Ministry.

When a Covid-19 case is discovered, it is necessary to quickly trace contacts, place the related areas under lockdown and conduct massive Covid-19 tests, according to the correspondence.

Moreover, the Ministry of Health was told to complete guidelines on Covid-19 infection prevention and control for socioeconomic activities and to manage travelers once the country resumes international commercial flights.

Apart from supporting localities in treating critically-ill Covid-19 patients, the ministry should enhance its inspection into other ministries, departments and localities to ensure their compliance with Covid-19 prevention and control regulations, according to the prime minister’s directive.

The ministry was also tasked with introducing detailed guidelines to healthcare facilities on Covid-19 safety, online medical examinations, Covid-19 testing and treatment for serious patients.

Besides, chairmen and chairwomen of provinces and cities must proactively adopt appropriate solutions, which meet the requirements for Covid-19 infection prevention and control and do not impact production and business activities, according to the prime minister.

Police, border guards and localities must continue to tighten control over illegal immigration to prevent the potential spread of the virus.

As for the reopening of international commercial flights, the prime minister ordered travelers to make a health declaration, undergo a Covid-19 test, complete their quarantine periods and follow Covid-19 infection prevention and control measures.
