HCMC – Vietnam is targeting double-digit economic growth during the 2026-2030 period, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh announced at a government meeting on December 7.

To build momentum for this ambitious goal, the Government aims for GDP growth of over 7% in 2024 and around 8% in 2025. Chinh emphasized the importance of achieving 7.5% growth in the fourth quarter of this year to lay the groundwork for the following year.

The meeting also addressed global challenges impacting Vietnam’s economy, including geopolitical conflicts, and political instability in certain parts of the world. Chinh highlighted the slow and fragile nature of the current economic recovery, citing currency fluctuations, climate change, and natural disasters as additional hurdles.

Government ministries and agencies were directed to finalize plans for 2025, evaluate 2024’s economic performance, and streamline operations to support sustained growth.
