HCMC – Vietnam is set to organize its first-ever fruit festival in China, one of its largest export markets, in a bid to boost trade, according to the Ministry of Industry and Trade.
The event, co-organized by the Ministry of Industry and Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, will take place on September 29-30 at the Xinfadi Agricultural Wholesale Market in Beijing’s Fengtai District, also known as the city’s largest fruit distribution hub.
The festival handles a wide variety of imported fruits through formal trade channels. Vietnam’s national pavilion, covering between 200 and 500 square meters, will feature 12 booths displaying various officially exported fruits, with sweet potatoes included.
The festival will include direct trade discussions between Vietnamese exporters and Chinese distributors, product sampling events, and a seminar exploring the export potential of Vietnamese fruits.
In the first half of 2024, Vietnam’s fruit and vegetable exports reached US$3.33 billion, a 24% increase from the previous year. Exports to China accounted for US$2.1 billion, representing 64% of the total.
