HCMC – Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan has met with a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) delegation led by USDA Trade and Foreign Agricultural Affairs Under Secretary Alexis Taylor to explore opportunities for expanding trade cooperation, particularly in the fruit market.

The September 12 meeting demonstrated the strong commitment of both sides to enhancing economic and trade relations, especially following the recent upgrade of Vietnam-U.S. relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

Deputy Minister Tan highlighted the importance of the U.S. as Vietnam’s key trade partner and expressed hopes for further strengthening trade and investment ties between the two countries.

The U.S. has already approved the import of fresh coconuts from Vietnam and is finalizing procedures to allow passion fruit imports.

Meanwhile, Vietnam has opened its market to several U.S. fruits, including grapefruit, peach and nectarine. Both countries are working together to facilitate the trade of additional products, such as orange, mandarin, plum and seedless lemon.
