Vietnam wins big at World Travel Awards 2021

HCMC – Vietnam has won a number of titles at the World Travel Awards 2021, including Asia’s Leading Destination and Asia’s Leading Sustainable Tourism Destination.

In Asia’s Leading Destination category, Vietnam outperformed other nominees such as China, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, India, South Korea and Sri Lanka.

The country has emerged from a tough field to become Asia’s Leading Destination, the World Travel Awards said in a statement.

The World Travel Awards also honored Vietnam as Asia’s Leading Sustainable Tourism Destination and the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism as Asia’s Leading Tourist Board 2021.

Besides, the UNESCO heritage site Ha Long Bay in Quang Ninh Province was named Asia’s leading tourist attraction.

Meanwhile, Hoi An won Asia’s Leading Cultural City Destination and Cuc Phuong National Park got Asia’s Leading National Park.

JW Marriott Phu Quoc Emerald Bay on Phu Quoc Island, Sun World Ba Na Hills in Danang City, Avana Retreat in Hoa Binh Province, Muong Thanh Luxury Hotel in Nha Trang City and Hotel de la Coupole – MGallery in Lao Cai Province also won awards in the hotel and resort category.

The results were based on votes cast by travel industry professionals and the public.

“Our winners represent the very best of Asia and Oceania’s travel and hospitality sectors and my congratulations to each of them. They are all playing starring roles in spearheading the travel and tourism recovery,” said Graham Cooke, World Travel Awards founder.

The World Travel Awards was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence across all key sectors of the travel, tourism and hospitality industries.
