HCMC – Vietnamese passports have fallen eight places to 92nd in the fourth-quarter Henley Passport Index (HPI), marking one of its lowest rankings in two decades.

According to the latest report by Henley & Partners, Vietnamese citizens can now travel to 50 destinations without a visa or by using e-visas, visas on arrival, or electronic travel authorizations.

The country’s highest-ever ranking was 78th in 2006–2007.

Singapore, South Korea, and Japan top the 2025 list, granting their citizens visa-free access to 193, 190, and 189 destinations, respectively. The U.S. and Malaysia share 12th place, each with visa-free access to 180 destinations.

The HPI, compiled by Henley & Partners using data from the International Air Transport Association, measures global travel freedom based on visa-free or visa-on-arrival access.
