HCMC – HCMC will stage Vietnam’s largest-ever drone light show on April 30, featuring 10,500 drones in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of south Vietnam and the reunification of the nation, and the 135th birth anniversary of President Ho Chi Minh.
The performance will coincide with a 15-minute fireworks display and is scheduled to begin at 9:00 p.m. along the Saigon River, covering areas in Thu Duc City and District 1.
Organizers have submitted a proposal to set a national record for the highest number of drones flown simultaneously. Previous shows in other provinces and cities have featured just over 4,000 drones.
As part of the celebrations, a special event titled “Reunification Festival” will take place at Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street and the riverfront area from Ba Son Bridge to Nha Rong Wharf, starting at 7:00 p.m. The program will include musical and athletic performances both on land and water.
Additional activities include a city-wide photography exhibition, the Olympic Day Run for public health expected to attract 4,000 participants, and a mass exercise event involving 1,400 people.
Throughout April and May, the city will host a series of Color Festival Nights on April 19, 26, and 29, and every Saturday in May. These evenings will feature artistic drone shows with 1,000 to 2,000 drones, fireworks displays, and live performances.
Events will take place from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street and along nearby sections of the river.
Festival highlights include symphony concerts, 3D projection mapping, traditional folk music, floating flower parades, sailboat and jetpack shows, Flyboarding, stand-up paddleboarding, and paragliding.
