Vietnam’s Covid-19 tally surpasses 16,000

HCMC – Vietnam’s Covid-19 tally has risen to 16,041 after an additional 145 cases were reported this evening, June 28, including six imported cases and 139 domestic infections, with HCMC reporting the most number of 62 cases.

Twenty other locally-infected cases were detected in Quang Ngai, 12 in Bac Giang, 11 in Dong Nai, and eight each in Bac Ninh and Binh Duong.

In addition, Ha Tinh reported seven cases, Binh Thuan had six, Hung Yen recorded two and Haiphong, Dong Thap and Daklak confirmed one each. Thus, Daklak has reported a Covid-19 case after a 30-day coronavirus-free period.

Up to 109 domestic infections were found at quarantine centers and in areas under lockdown.

Of the imported cases, three were found in Tay Ninh and one each in Khanh Hoa, Quang Tri and An Giang.

The Bac Giang Center for Disease Control today updated seven cases detected earlier to the national Covid-19 tally system.

Today, 200 patients were announced to have recovered from Covid-19, raising the country’s total number of recovered patients to 6,519.

In Hanoi, a 79-year-old woman and her daughter-in-law in Chuong My District have retested positive for Covid-19 after recovering from the disease earlier, according to the municipal Center for Disease Control (CDC).

Hanoi CDC deputy director Khong Minh Tuan said the two were linked to K Hospital. Having recovered from Covid-19 and been released from hospital, they were asked to quarantine themselves at home for 14 days.

After the mother retested positive for Covid-19 on June 25, her seventh quarantine day, the Chuong My District Medical Center took samples from her son and daughter-in-law and found that the daughter-in-law also retested positive.

On June 27, the two were transferred to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases for treatment. Six direct contacts of the daughter-in-law are quarantining themselves at home.
