HCMC – Thang Long high-speed ferry, Vietnam’s largest passenger ship, is set to embark on its inaugural journey from Vung Tau City to Con Dao Island off Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province on March 9.
With a seating capacity of 1,017 passengers, the 77.5-meter-long ferry can cruise at a maximum speed of 35 nautical miles per hour, so it takes just three hours to travel between Vung Tau and Con Dao.
Meeting strict International Maritime Organization (IMO) standards, the four-deck ferry offers 300 VIP seats on the lowest deck, 717 seats on the first and second decks and a mini bar on the third deck.
It is equipped with three engines with a combined capacity of nearly 12,000 HP.
The ferry’s maiden voyage from Vung Tau to Con Dao is fully booked. Trips from Vung Tau to Con Dao depart at 7:30 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays while return trips depart at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays.
Ticket prices range from VND790,000 to VND950,000 for economy class. VIP tickets cost VND1.1 million. Discounted tickets are offered to children and individuals with disability at VND550,000 to VND760,000.
