In related news, over 10,000 sixth graders in HCMC got vaccinated against Covid on the first day of the vaccination drive for children 5 to 11, according to the municipal Department of Health.

These children were vaccinated at 96 sites in 19 districts and Thu Duc City, the local media reported.

Some 1,400 children were not eligible for getting the vaccine as most of them have recovered from the disease. They will go for their vaccination three months after recovery. Meanwhile, many others either have a history of allergy or underlying health conditions.

The deadline of the vaccination of children aged 5-11 in HCMC is set on April 30. The city has over 898,500 children in this age group.
