HCMC – Vietnam’s Party General Secretary and State President To Lam has urged U.S. aerospace giant Boeing to expedite its plans to invest in Vietnam by developing a component manufacturing plant and maintenance center.
At a meeting with Brendan Nelson, President of Boeing Global, in New York on September 22 as part of his working trip to the U.S., To Lam reiterated Vietnam’s commitment to creating favorable conditions for U.S. investors, particularly Boeing, to invest and operate efficiently and sustainably.
He also acknowledged Boeing’s commitments to support Vietnam in developing its aerospace and aviation industrial ecosystem in the near future.
The Vietnamese leader encouraged Boeing to expand cooperation in areas such as human resource training, research and development, and technology transfer, while also deepening its engagement with Vietnamese partners in its supply chain.
To Lam also urged Boeing to continue collaborating closely with Vietnamese partners to ensure the timely delivery of aircraft orders signed in the past.
Brendan Nelson, in response, affirmed Boeing’s ongoing efforts, including regular discussions with Vietnam Airlines’ leadership to offer financial support and address various challenges. Both sides are committed to fulfilling the contract signed during U.S. President Joe Biden’s visit to Vietnam last year by 2028.
Nelson also emphasized Boeing’s commitment to helping establish an aviation ecosystem in Vietnam, focusing on infrastructure development, workforce training, airport construction, and aircraft repair and maintenance facilities.
