HCMC – Xi Jinping, General Secretary of the Communist Party of China and President of China, and his spouse on the morning of April 15 hosted an official welcome ceremony for To Lam, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam and President of Vietnam, and his spouse at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, marking a key highlight of the Vietnamese leader’s state visit to China.
The ceremony was held with full state honors, including a 21-gun salute. After inspecting the People’s Liberation Army honor guard, the two leaders held talks on the future direction of bilateral relations.

During the meeting, the top leaders of the two Parties and countries reviewed the progress of their comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership, with a particular focus on economic and trade cooperation.
Vietnam has remained China’s largest trading partner in ASEAN for the past decade, while China continues to be Vietnam’s biggest trading partner globally.
Both sides are expected to explore new breakthroughs in investment, supply chains, transport infrastructure and technology. The visit also provides an opportunity to advance shared development goals and enhance coordination in multilateral frameworks, contributing to regional stability and prosperity.

Following the talks, the two leaders would witness the signing of key cooperation agreements between ministries, sectors and localities.
To Lam is in China for his state visit from April 14 to 17, which is seen as a crucial step in deepening ties between the two countries.
