HCMC – The State Bank of Vietnam (SBV) has received 11 requests from enterprises and commercial banks for licenses to produce gold bars, Dao Xuan Tuan, head of the Foreign Exchange Department at the SBV, told the media on April 14.
The central bank is reviewing the requests in coordination with relevant ministries and agencies to grant licenses to qualified entities, said Tuan. The number of applicants has increased by two compared with the end of last year.
Gold prices in the domestic market fluctuated sharply in the first quarter of 2026, reflecting global geopolitical tensions, military conflicts, and rising strategic competition.
The central bank said it will continue to monitor gold market developments and implement regulations under Decree 24/2012, as amended by Decree 232/2025, while coordinating with authorities to strengthen oversight and stabilize the market.
