HCMC – GSM Joint Stock Company, the first e-taxi service provider owned by Vingroup in Vietnam, has expanded to neighboring Laos.

Residents and foreign tourists in Vientiane, the capital of Laos, can now book an electric taxi from GSM through the Xanh SM Laos mobile app, available on the App Store and Play Store, or wave for a Xanh SM taxi on the road starting from November 9.

The taxi service provider plans to deploy 1,000 VinFast VF5 Plus electric vehicles for its operations in Laos this year.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Anouphap Tounalom, secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of the People’s Council of Vientiane, said that the use of electric vehicles (EVs) is on the rise in Laos, especially in major cities like Vientiane.

The introduction of the Xanh SM taxi service offers residents and tourists an eco-friendly transportation option, contributing to the government’s goal of having 30% of vehicles in Laos powered by batteries by 2030.

Following its launch in Laos, GSM plans to expand its operations to other Southeast Asian countries.
