HCMC – Buoyed by bluechip gains and stable cash flow, the VN-Index of the Hochiminh Stock Exchange added 1.24 points at 874.71 at the close today, August 27.
Market breath was positive with 241 advancers and 147 decliners. The benchmark index gained 0.14% from the session earlier. Trade volume totaled over 315.7 million shares worth VND6.2 trillion, inching down slightly in volume but equivalent in value from the previous session. Over 46.6 million shares valued at VND1.4 trillion were traded in block deals.
Tech firm FPT, petroleum PLX and mobile phone retailer MWG traded in positive territory, acting as supporters for the southern bourse.
Other bluechips such as lender CTG, bank stock TCB and steelmaker HPG gained steam, while property firm VHM, budget airline VJC and gas firm GAS inched down.
Financial service provider TCH was the most actively traded stock in the bluechip group, with over 9.6 million shares changing hands, followed by HPG with a matching volume of over 8.8 million shares.
Many speculative stocks strongly attracted cash flow, with industrial zone developer ITA closing the day up and taking the lead on the southern bourse by liquidity with 19.5 million shares traded.
The HNX-Index of the Hanoi Stock Exchange continued its upward spiral, finishing the session up 1.03 points, or 0.83%, against the session earlier, at 124.92, marking its seventh straight winning session.
Bank stocks ACB and SHB advanced by 1.4% and 1.5% at the close while construction firm VCG and securities companies SHS and MBS were in positive territory, contributing to the rise of the index.
Educational and equipment firm DST became the most actively traded stock with some 6.4 million shares transacted, but it closed down 8.9%.
