HCMC – Two wind power projects got off the ground in the Central Highlands province of Gia Lai today, September 24, with a total investment of over VND3.6 trillion.
The project developed by Chu Prong Gia Lai Wind Power JSC is set to span an area of 654 hectares and have a capacity of 50 megawatts (MW), while the project of Chu Prong Gia Lai Wind Energy JSC will cover 464 hectares and have the same capacity as the former, VietnamPlus news site reported.
The two projects are located in Bau Can Commune of Chu Prong District, which has much potential for wind power, and slated for completion in 2021.
Once in place, the two wind farms are expected to generate a combined 319.5 million kWh of electricity per year, earn over VND627 billion per year and contribute over VND125 billion to the State budget each year.
In Gia Lai Province, as many as 67 wind power projects with a total capacity of over 4,048 MW are being considered for licensing. Of the total, 14 projects have been added to the provincial energy development plan by the Government, according to the province’s report.
