HCMC – A worker was killed and three others were injured after a five-meter-long wall suddenly collapsed in the northern province of Yen Bai last night, July 1.
Nguyen Anh Quyen, chairman of Van Phu Commune in Yen Bai City, told Thanh Nien Online this afternoon, July 2, that the accident occurred at 9.00 p.m. on July 1 when a group of workers at the Yen Binh Paper Plant was installing drainage pipes at the plant.
The wall collapse claimed the life of Tran Van Cong, aged 43, who lives in Phu Thinh Commune in Yen Binh District, while one of the three injured workers suffered a leg injury.
On being notified of the incident, the authorities of Van Phu Commune dispatched a working team to the scene to search for and rescue the victims.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the weak foundation of the land caused the wall, which is located near a canal connected to the drainage system, to collapse.
The Yen Bai police are continuing to probe deeper into the reason for the collapse.
