HCMC – Work has begun on a project to upgrade the waterway route along Duong River, including the railway bridge across the Duong River, at a total cost of over VND1,800 billion. The project is expected to be completed and put into service by 2025.
The project will be divided into two bidding packages. The first package, X-CD-01, includes the Duong railway bridge and its connecting roads from both sides. This one-kilometer-long bridge and road project is located 16 meters away from the current railway bridge, upstream of the Duong River. The new bridge will align with the planned Hanoi Metro line No. 1 construction location.
The second package, X-CD-02, consists of the Duong road traffic bridge and its access roads from both sides. This 382-meter bridge will be situated 100 meters from the current one, downstream of the river.
The project is located in Thuong Thanh and Duc Giang wards, Long Bien District, and Yen Vien Town, Gia Lam District.
According to Hanoi City’s planning for 2030, with a vision to 2050, there will be eight bridges spanning across Duong River. The Duong railroad bridge will be separated into road traffic and railway bridges.
The project to upgrade the waterway route along the Duong River aims to enhance waterway transport capacity on waterway corridor no. 1, improve vehicle movement in the area, complete the regional traffic network, and support urban development in the North Red River region according to the planning.
