HCMC – Until now, Vietnam’s Covid-19 vaccine passport has been accepted by 10 countries, including Japan, the United States, the UK, Australia, India, Belarus, Cambodia, the Philippines, Palestine and Maldives, according to Le Thi Thu Hang, spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Speaking at a press briefing yesterday, January 20, Hang said the Ministry of Health on December 23 issued a Covid-19 vaccine passport template for Vietnam. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs then introduced it to foreign diplomatic missions in Vietnam to promote the mutual recognition of Vietnam’s vaccine passport.
As a result, the 10 countries have recognized the vaccine passport of Vietnam.
Vietnam, in turn, has recognized the vaccine passports or vaccination certificates of 79 countries and territories.
The recognition will provide a basis for foreign citizens entering Vietnam from these 79 countries and regions to be quarantined for a shorter period of three days, as well as for reducing the quarantine period for fully-vaccinated people or those having recovered from Covid, Hang added.
