149 new Covid-19 cases confirmed, mainly in HCMC, Binh Duong

HCMC – Three imported Covid-19 cases in Kien Giang Province and 146 domestic infections in seven other localities were reported this afternoon, June 28, with HCMC and Binh Duong accounting for the majority, at 94 and 32, respectively.

With 97 cases reported this morning, Vietnam has recorded 246 Covid-19 patients so far today.

The new cases sent the country’s Covid-19 tally to 15,889, with 12,547 cases recorded in the latest outbreak.

Following HCMC and Binh Duong, Bac Giang reported 12 cases and Bac Ninh had four. In addition, two other cases were detected in Nghe An, and one each in Hoa Binh and Danang.

Up to 137 cases were found at quarantine facilities and in areas under lockdown.

As for the cases in HCMC, 46 of them were in direct contact with previously-confirmed Covid-19 patients. Meanwhile, 17 cases were linked to An Dong Market in District 5, and nine each linked to Son Ky Market in Tan Phu and the Tan Phu Trung Industrial Park in Cu Chi.

Additionally, six patients were found to be connected to Hoang Hoa Tham Market in Tan Binh, while the sources of infection of seven others are being investigated.

Last night, the Bac Giang government asked Yen The, Hiep Hoa and 15 communes and towns of Yen Dung District to apply anti-pandemic measures under the prime minister’s Directive 16 from 6 a.m. today, after they practiced social distancing in line with Directive 15.

Three other communes of Yen Dung District—Noi Hoang, Tien Phong and Yen Lu—would continue practicing social distancing under Directive 15.

In Quang Ngai Province, 43 fishermen in Nghia An Commune of Quang Ngai City sneakily left Pho Thanh Ward of Duc Pho Town, which is practicing social practicing under Directive 16.

Quang Ngai City Vice Chairman Nguyen Van Anh on June 27 asked Nghia An Commune to send the 43 fishermen to centralized quarantine centers.

On the same day, Quang Ngai Province imposed social distancing under Directive 15 on the entire Duc Pho Town. Pho Chau Commune and Pho Khanh Ward would continue practicing social distancing in accordance with Directive 16.

On June 26, the competent agencies in Pho Khanh Ward also detected a group of 50 people who sought to leave the ward. The group was later asked to return to their residences.
