600 out of 633 new Covid-19 cases detected in HCMC

HCMC – The Ministry of Health confirmed 633 more Covid-19 infections this afternoon, July 11, with 600 cases reported in HCMC.

The total cases included 632 cases infected locally and one case who was immediately sent to a quarantine center in Ba Ria-Vung Tau after arriving at the HCMC-based Tan Son Nhat International Airport.

Besides the 600 cases in HCMC, nine others were detected in Bac Giang, six in Hanoi, three in each of Hung Yen and Ba Ria-Vung Tau, two in each of Ninh Thuan, Ha Tinh and Binh Thuan, and one in each of Dak Nong, Lam Dong, Haiphong and Thanh Hoa.

Of the total, 482 cases were found at quarantine facilities and in areas on lockdown, while the sources of infection of the remaining 150 cases, all in HCMC, remain unknown.

The city has recorded 1,043 Covid-19 cases so far today.

The Ministry of Health on July 10 announced two more Covid-19 deaths in HCMC and Bac Giang, taking the country’s Covid-19 death toll to 112, including 77 in the current outbreak.

The two were suffering from underlying illnesses.

The deceased in HCMC was a 59-year-old resident in District 7. She tested positive for Covid-19 on July 3 and was hospitalized at the field hospital No. 1 in Long An Province and died on July 7.

The other, aged 64, who resided in Quang Chau Commune, Viet Yen District, Bac Giang, Province, was found to be infected with Covid-19 on June 6. On June 9, her condition worsened and she was transferred to the intensive care unit of the Bac Giang Psychiatric Hospital.

On June 22, she was moved to the National Hospital for Tropical Diseases in Hanoi and died on July 7.

In Binh Duong Province, many workers of Ampacs International Co., Ltd on July 10 pushed the company’s gate open to escape from the company after hearing the news about a Covid-19 case who is their coworker.

According to the medical center of Bau Bang District, the district detected a man and his wife infected with Covid-19. The couple’s daughter, who also tested positive for Covid-19, is a worker of Ampacs International Co., Ltd.

The competent agencies of Bau Bang District have called on the workers to return to the company and have their samples taken for testing. Ampacs International Co., Ltd has been placed on lockdown and all 5,900 workers of the company will undergo Covid-19 tests.

Following many other southern localities, Tien Giang has decided to impose social distancing under the prime minister’s Directive 16 on its 10 cities, towns and districts for 15 days from 0 a.m. on July 12.

Tan Phu Dong District will continue practicing social distancing in line with Directive 15.

Earlier, the province had issued a social distancing order in line with Directive 16 in My Tho City and Cai Lay and Cai Be towns, while the remaining parts had practiced social distancing under Directive 15.

Tien Giang has detected 67 coronavirus clusters in My Tho City and eight towns and districts with more than 400 Covid-19 cases.
