HCMC – Bad weather has led to the suspension of all ferry services between the islands and the mainland of the Mekong Delta provice of Kien Giang.
The ferry services on the routes of Phu Quoc-Rach Gia, Phu Quoc-Ha Tien, Rach Gia-Nam Du and others are put on hold until further notice, said Tran Van Tai, director of the Kien Giang Maritime Administration.
According to the southern weather center, Kien Giang have seen heavy rains, thunderstorms and rough seas.
Between July 12 and 13, the waters in the southern region could have strong southwest monsoon, rough seas, heavy rains and thunderstorms.
Waterway service providers have informed their ticket agents and customers of the suspension. They are also working to refund customers who made earlier bookings or reschedule their trips to the following days if the weather improves.
Duong Van Khon, director of Phu Quoc Today Travel Company, said his company was working to arrange dining services and sightseeing tours in Rach Gia for a group of over 130 customers who were being stranded in Rach Gia City due to the bad weather, reported Thanh Nien Online.
As shared by Nguyen Vu Khac Huy, director of Vina Phu Quoc Tourism Company, several groups of customers of the company had been stranded on Phu Quoc.
