HCMC – The Ministry of Health confirmed 100 new Covid-19 cases by community transmission this afternoon, June 14, with 94 of them found in quarantine centers or areas on lockdown.
Among the new infections, the biggest coronavirus hotspot of Bac Giang accounted for the most at 69 cases. HCMC reported 26 cases, including nine linked to the newly detected HCMC Hospital for Tropical Diseases infection cluster. The capital city of Hanoi had four cases and Ha Tinh Province had one.
Overall, the country reported 7,523 locally-infected cases in 40 provinces and cities during the latest coronavirus wave, which began on April 27.
Also, this afternoon, the lockdown on the Tan Trieu Campus of K Hospital in Hanoi, also known as Vietnam National Cancer Hospital, was lifted and the campus resumed normal operations after over one month of suspension due to the impact of Covid-19.
Earlier, the lockdown on the other two campuses of the K hospital in Hanoi was removed on May 24, as they ensured Covid-19 safety measures.
The three campuses were put on lockdown on May 7 as 11 patients and their relatives at the Tan Trieu campus were found to be infected with Covid-19 at the same time.
The hospital after that reported over 50 new infections including patients under treatment there, caregivers, visitors, medical workers. Besides this, other localities such as Bac Giang and Bac Ninh reported cases linked to the hospital.
In related news, Covid-19 Field Hospital No.2 set up at the Gia Binh Medical Center in Bac Ninh Province was disbanded starting 12 p.m. today, as the 300-bed hospital has completed its task of providing treatment for coronavirus patients.
The local competent forces disinfected and cleaned the hospital, making sure that the facility can resume its original function as a medical center and comply with anti-virus measures.
Earlier, the Gia Binh Medical Center was among the medical facilities in this northern province being converted into Covid-19 field hospitals.
