HCMC – Boeing has announced to offer Vietnam an opportunity in aerospace manufacturing and training, supply chain and sustainable aviation.
Boeing shared its vision to expand the country’s aerospace capabilities during the first Vietnam Aerospace Industry Forum hosted by the company on August 25.
“We will continue to work with the Vietnamese industry and universities to provide a foundation for long-term industrial growth,” said Michael Nguyen, country director at Boeing Vietnam.
The significant opportunities outlined at the event align with the Government’s Make in Vietnam, Digital Vietnam and Green Energy goals, added Nguyen.
The U.S. leading aerospace company shared its strategy to decarbonize aviation with a focus on fleet renewal, operational efficiencies, a renewable energy transition with an emphasis on sustainable aviation fuels and advanced technology.
Suppliers in Vietnam are raising the bar to deliver world-class quality and productivity as they become an important part of the company’s global supply chain, acccording to a statement of Boeing.
Vietnamese suppliers have been manufacturing components including aerostructures, electronics and composites for the past decade to support Boeing’s commercial airplane production.
Boeing is also collaborating with Vietnamese companies on the the best practices for lean manufacturing, supplier management and other specialized training.
The company now has seven suppliers operating facilities in Vietnam, but only one of them is a Vietnamese business.
In the long run, the aircraft maker prefers to work directly with suppliers in Vietnam, said Nguyen.
Experts said Southeast Asia might need up to 4,000 aircraft over the next 30 years, with Vietnam leading the demand. Boeing aims to be a strategic supplier to the country in this regard.
Do Nhat Hoang, director of the Foreign Investment Agency at the Ministry of Planning and Investment, recommended Boeing and other U.S. companies continue to improve their cooperation and technology transfer to Vietnam in terms of infrastructure, manufacturing and technical services.
Hoang advised Boeing to establish a center in Vietnam to train pilots, experts and engineers as well as a facility for the production of aircraft.
