HCMC – The Ministry of Transport has passed a plan to upgrade the Cao Lanh-Lo Te road, which links Dong Thap Province and Can Tho City in the Mekong Delta region, at a total cost of VND950 billion.
The 28.8-kilometer-long road upgrading project will be executed from this year until 2025, the local media reported.
The road starts at the An Binh intersection in An Binh Commune in Dong Thap Province’s Cao Lanh District and ends at an intersection with the Lo Te-Rach Soi route in Can Tho City.
The project will keep the the width of the main road unchanged at 20 meters for six lanes, but the road will have a tack coat, asphalt concrete surface and frontage road systems. In addition, numerous bridges will be built on frontage roads.
The My Thuan Project Management Board was appointed as the investor of the project to appraise and approve its design and select contractors to start work on the upgrading project. Besides, the board is in charge of project management and execution processes.
The Cao Lanh-Lo Te-Rach Soi route is part of the western North-South expressway project that runs across the Mekong Delta region. The Lo Te-Rach Soi road, which is 51 kilometers long and connects Can Tho City with Kien Giang, was opened to traffic in early 2021. The road has four lanes and allows a maximum speed of 80 kilometers per hour.
