HCMC – Some 24 gas stations in HCMC have reported fuel shortages and temporarily stopped selling gasoline on October 7, according to the HCMC Department of Market Management.

Specifically, many gas stations in Go Vap District, District 12, Tan Binh District, Binh Thanh District and Thuduc City are selling oil but have run out of gasoline.

A number of large fuel suppliers have not yet ensured an adequate supply of gasoline and oil, causing a fuel shortage in some gas stations and their suspension of gas sales, the Department of Industry and Trade explained.

Earlier, HCMC saw three other gas stations shut down for repairs on October 6.

The Market Management Department continues to require the functional teams to strengthen supervision and promptly update information about the operation of gas stations in the city.

The functional teams must detect and tackle violations related to fuel trading regulations in time, especially sales suspension without reason and fuel hoarding.

Gas stations have been asked to report their difficulties in finding supplies and seek help from the authorities, not just suspend their business due to fuel shortages.

The department will also report the situation to the Ministry of Industry and Trade and relevant agencies to find suitable solutions.
