HCMC – Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has signed Resolution 31-NQ/TW targeting HCMC’s annual growth of 8-8.5% and gross regional domestic product (GRDP) per capita of US$14,500, the Vietnam News Agency reported.
The resolution sets an orientation for HCMC’s development by 2030, with a vision by 2045.
The southern metropolis is set to be the country’s driver for digital socio-economic development and a hub for the economy, finance, commerce, culture, education, science, and technology, thereby accelerating international integration and gaining a firm foothold in the Southeast Asian market.
To that end, the city needs to promote technology innovation, devise strategies to develop a green and circular economy, enhance productivity, and step up value-added production, he said.
Meanwhile, the Politburo told the city to improve the quality of construction projects and upgrade infrastructure to pursue sustainability and adapt to climate change.
The city was also urged to accelerate infrastructure projects, enhance connectivity with neighboring provinces, and remove legal hindrances to long-pending projects.
