HCMC Heath Dept gets new director

HCMC – Tang Chi Thuong, deputy director of the HCMC Department of Health, has been picked as director of the department, replacing Nguyen Tan Binh, who will retire on September 1.

HCMC Vice Chairman Le Hoa Binh today, August 25, handed over the appointment decision to Thuong. He will hold the post for five years, starting from September 1, the local media reported.

Thuong, 54, a native of Tra Vinh Province, served as deputy director and then director of HCMC Children’s Hospital 1 for nearly 20 years. From August 2013, he joined the HCMC Department of Health as its deputy director.

On the same day, the vice chairman of the city handed over a decision appointing Nguyen Van Vinh Chau, director of the HCMC Hospital for Tropical Diseases, as deputy director of the HCMC Department of Health. The decision will take effect from September 1.

Chau, a 55-year-old native of HCMC, has held the post of director of the HCMC Hospital for Tropical Diseases since April 2011.

He is also a member of many professional councils of the Ministry of Health and the HCMC Department of Health.

At present, the HCMC Department of Health has two deputy directors: Nguyen Huu Hung and Nguyen Hoai Nam.
