HCMC – The My Thuan Project Management Board has written to the Ministry of Transport proposing the ministry consider and assess a pre-feasibility study for the 33.8-kilometer An Huu-Cao Lanh expressway project, which will link Dong Thap and Tien Giang provinces in the Mekong Delta.

If approved, the expressway project will be completed and put into service in 2025, the local media reported.

The expressway is planned to start from the An Thai Trung Intersection with the Trung Luong-My Thuan expressway in Cai Be District in Tien Giang and end at Provincial Road 856 in Dong Thap Province’s Cao Lanh City.

The An Huu-Cao Lanh expressway will be 24.7 meters wide with four lanes and allow a maximum speed of 100 kilometers per hour.

The project will be carried out in two phases, with the first phase comprising four lanes with a width of 17 meters and costing some VND7 trillion. The total cost of the expressway project will be over VND9.5 trillion.

The management board also proposed the ministry develop the expressway project under the build-operate-transfer (BOT) format, with 50% of the total investment sourced from the State budget.

The expressway is expected to boost the economic growth in the region and improve the traffic system.
