Former Deputy PM Vu Khoan dies aged 86

HCMC – Former Deputy Prime Minister Vu Khoan passed away today, June 21, at the 108 Military Central Hospital in Hanoi, aged 86.

Born in Hanoi on October 7, 1937, Khoan had a distinguished career in public service. He held positions such as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Minister of Trade before serving as Deputy Prime Minister from 2002 to 2006.

He was also a member of the 10th and 11th National Assembly.

Regarded as an excellent diplomat and a prominent researcher, Khoan continued to provide valuable advice to the Party and State after his retirement in 2007. In recognition of his significant contributions to the country, he received prestigious orders, State honors and Party distinctions.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh acknowledged Khoan’s expertise and dedication when he presented him with the 60-year Party membership badge in November 2021.
