HCMC – The Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has demanded the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) take prompt action to reduce Long Thanh International Airport construction dust pollution.

In the past, dust pollution at the Long Thanh airport construction site made big headlines in the local media. And in recent days, a long section of Long Thanh-Dau Giay Expressway has been blanketed in red dust blowing from the Long Thanh airport construction site.

In a document recently sent to project developer ACV, the ministry said the company must take measures to prevent red dust from polluting neighboring areas.

The company should spray water to dampen the surface of the site, grow grass and monitor construction work to ensure sufficient humidity at the site.

ACV is also tasked with monitoring the operations of trucks at the site, and assigning staff to supervise contractor work to mitigate dust pollution.

At the Long Thanh International Airport construction site, there are a staggering 6,000 trucks and other vehicles operating, the management board said.
