Must read

In the dry season, the south-central province of Ninh Thuan, boasting over 105 kilometers of coastline, becomes a canvas for salt production. Blessed with high salinity in its seawater, abundant radiant energy, ample sunshine, and strong winds, Ninh Thuan is hailed as the “kingdom of salt fields” in Vietnam’s southern region.

The art of salt crafting in Ninh Thuan has deep roots, spanning centuries, predominantly concentrated in Ninh Hai and Thuan Nam districts. Among them, Ca Na, Phuong Cuu, and Dam Vua stand out as the centers of salt field activity, drawing visitors and photographers alike eager to capture the breathtaking beauty of this natural landscape and traditional salt-making process.

Witnessing farmers meticulously craft salt using age-old techniques is a great experience. They begin by meticulously flattening and compacting the field surfaces, followed by the strategic pumping of seawater into the designated areas. Patiently, they await the natural evaporation process, which unfolds over the course of a week, before meticulously harvesting the crystallized salt. This cycle repeats until the arrival of the rainy season.
