HCMC – Nguyen Van Khuoc, vice chairman of the People’s Committee and chairman of the Land Price Appraisal Council of Vinh Phuc Province, has been detained on alleged charges of bribe taking in the Phuc Son Corporation case.

Chu Quoc Hai, former vice director of Vinh Phuc Province’s Department of Natural Resources and Environment, and Hoang Van Nhiem, vice director of the provincial Department of Finance, have also been arrested on the same charges.

These arrests are part of an expanded investigation into irregularities at Phuc Son Corporation. Allegations suggest that when developing wholesale market and residential area projects in Vinh Phuc Province, bribes were given to Khuoc, Hai, and Nhiem to influence land use price determinations in favor of Phuc Son Corporation.

The illicit activities of these individuals are reported to have caused a loss of over VND200 billion for the State budget.

Over the past two months, several officials, including high-ranking leaders, have been arrested on bribery charges linked to the Phuc Son Corporation case. These include three leaders of Vinh Phuc Province: Hoang Thi Thuy Lan, former Party secretary; Pham Hoang Anh, former Party vice secretary; and Le Duy Thanh, former chairman of the provincial People’s Committee.

In Quang Ngai Province, the ministry’s investigation agency filed charges against Dang Van Minh, chairman of the Quang Ngai Provincial People’s Committee, and Cao Khoa, former chairman of the province, along with their subordinates.
