HCMC – The Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade of Vietnam (Vietcombank) has begun selling gold on its website in a bid to alleviate congestion at the bank’s gold bar selling points.
Customers can now register to buy on the website and select a date and a location where they will pick up the metal. This service eliminates the need for customers to queue up at the selling points to get a transaction number.
The registration time for buying gold bars is from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., excluding weekends and public holidays. The payment and delivery time for gold bars at Vietcombank’s SJC gold selling points is from 1:30 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
After registering online, customers must go to the specified transaction location at the appointed time. If a customer does not arrive within 30 minutes past the scheduled time, the bank will cancel the appointment, Vietcombank stated.
Since they were authorized to retail gold to the public, the four state-run commercial banks have experienced congestion at their gold selling points as large numbers of residents queued up for transaction numbers from early morning.
To further facilitate gold trading and meet customer demand, Vietcombank has added four new gold selling points, including two in Hanoi and two in HCMC, raising its total number of gold trading points to 10.
