HCMC – Vietnam’s tourism sector showed a strong performance during the Hung Kings’ Death Anniversary and Reunification Day–International Labor Day holidays, with many localities reporting high revenues thanks to favorable weather and diversified tourism offerings.
The northern province of Thanh Hoa reported 1.72 million visitors, and obtained around VND4.33 trillion in revenue. Coastal tourism dominated, with Sam Son Beach attracting roughly 1.2 million visitors, the highest in the province. Early preparations and transparent pricing policies helped deliver strong results, as the province targets nearly 17 million visitors in 2026.
Elsewhere, destinations in northern mountainous and Central Highlands regions also reported solid growth. Son La welcomed more than 312,000 visitors, up 41% year-on-year, with accommodation occupancy reaching 80%.
In Dak Lak, about 473,500 tourists came during the holidays, with revenue from the break alone estimated at VND347 billion. New tourism products, including hot air balloon rides and culinary festivals, helped enhance visitor experiences and extend stays.
The aviation sector mirrored the upbeat trend, with total passenger traffic reaching 1.68 million, up 2.2% from a year earlier. While domestic travel dipped slightly by 7.5%, international passenger numbers rose by 10% to more than one million. Vietnamese carriers maintained stable service quality, with an average on-time departure rate of 85.6%.
