HCMC – The issuance of criminal record certificates through the Vietnam Electronic Identification (VNeID) mobile app will be implemented nationwide on a pilot basis from October 1 this year to June 30 next year.
The prime minister has approved the Ministry of Justice’s proposal to expand the pilot program for issuing criminal record certificates through the VNeID app nationwide. Previously, Hanoi and Thua Thien-Hue piloted the program.
The Ministry of Justice is assigned to take the lead and coordinate with the Ministry of Public Security and localities to issue guidelines for issuing criminal record certificates through VNeID, which should be completed before October 1.
This ministry must also amend and supplement regulations to ensure a sufficient legal basis for the online issuance of criminal record certificates.
A criminal record certificate is a document that certifies whether an individual has any convictions. Citizens can go to the local Department of Justice to request the certificate or make an online registration.
