HCMC – Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has ordered relevant units to accelerate the completion of the second campuses of Bach Mai and Viet-Duc University hospitals, aiming to bring both facilities into operation in the second quarter of this year.
Speaking at an April 14 meeting with the Ministry of Health, PM Hung called for coordinated action and maximum resource mobilization to address delays in the projects.
This includes completing construction documentation, fire safety approvals, environmental permits, and all remaining work. The goal is to ensure that both hospitals are brought into operation in the second quarter of the year, in line with the directive of Party General Secretary and State President To Lam.
The Ministry of Health has been tasked with leading and coordinating with relevant ministries and agencies to urgently finalize specific mechanisms and policies for the operation of the two hospitals, with completion required no later than April 2026.
Beyond the hospital projects, PM Hung urged the ministry to complete a draft amendment to the Law on Food Safety and strengthen regulatory oversight.
He also called for a roadmap to provide free annual health screenings for the public, with priority given to disadvantaged and remote areas starting this year.
