HCMC – Storm Yagi, currently moving east of Luzon Island in the Philippines, is expected to enter the East Sea tomorrow, September 3, according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.
As of 10 a.m. today, Yagi was spotted east of Luzon Island, with sustained winds at level 8 and gusts reaching level 11. The storm is moving west-northwest at approximately 20 kilometers per hour and is likely to intensify.
By 10 a.m. tomorrow, Yagi is anticipated to be over the waters northeast of Luzon Island, with wind speeds increasing to level 9 and gusts surpassing level 12. Once it enters the East Sea, Yagi will become the third storm to impact the region this year.
In the next 72 to 120 hours, Yagi is expected to continue moving westward at 10-15 kilometers per hour, with potential for further strengthening.
From the afternoon of September 3, the northern East Sea will experience escalating winds reaching level 6, with areas near the storm’s center facing winds at level 8 and gusts above level 11.
Between September 4 and 6, Yagi may evolve into a super powerful storm in the northeastern part of the East Sea, with maximum wind speeds potentially hitting level 12 and gusts reaching up to level 15.
