HCMC – Vietnam’s Party General Secretary and President To Lam arrived in the Irish capital of Dublin on October 1 (local time), starting a three-day state visit at the invitation of Ireland’s President Michael D. Higgins.
After the state visit to Mongolia, Lam and the Vietnamese high-level delegation landed at Dublin Airport at 8:30 p.m. This marks the first state visit since Vietnam and Ireland established diplomatic relations in 1996.
Irish officials attending the welcome ceremony at the airport included Pippa Hackett, minister of State at the Department of Agriculture Food and the Marine, Eamonn McKee, chief of Protocol at the Department of Foreign Affairs, and Brian McDonagh, mayor of Fingal Dublin.
During the visit, Lam and Higgins are expected to discuss solutions to strengthen bilateral relations. Vietnam and Ireland have potential to deepen ties in areas such as high-quality investment, education, and science and technology, according to the Vietnam News Agency.
