As part of the year-long Festival Hue 2024 series, the Hue Ao Dai Festival, themed “Linh Phung” (Phoenix), took place at the Huong River Theater in the central city of Hue on September 23. The event honored the beauty of the Vietnamese ao dai (long dress) and its connection to the ancient capital.

The Hue Ao Dai Festival 2024 featured a combination of fashion, music, and dance performances, set to traditional and modern melodies inspired by the royal court. The festival drew renowned ao dai designers from across Vietnam, particularly Hanoi, HCMC, and Thua Thien-Hue, showcasing collections inspired by phoenix motifs from architectural decoration and royal costumes of the Nguyen Dynasty, merged with the elegance of modern ao dai.

The phoenix, a symbol of resilience, has played a significant role in Vietnamese cultural life, becoming a prominent motif in traditional architecture, sculpture, and decorative arts.
